Sustainability
As a guest, it is easy to make smart environmental choices when dining with us. From purchasing local seasonal produce to reducing inorganic and organic waste, your campus dining team is dedicated to providing you with an exceptional dining experience that is good for you and good for the planet.
Campus Kitchens
Founded in 2001, The Campus Kitchens Project is a national organization that empowers student volunteers to fight hunger in their community. On university and high school campuses across the country, students transform unused food from dining halls, grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers’ markets into meals that are delivered to local agencies serving those in need. By taking the initiative to run a community kitchen, students develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills, along with a commitment to serve their community, that they will carry with them into future careers. Each Campus Kitchen goes beyond meals by using food as a tool to promote poverty solutions, implement garden initiatives, participate in nutrition education, and convene food policy events.
OZZI O2Go Containers
Troy Dining Services encourages and supports environmentally friendly habits on campus. OZZI O2Go reusable containers is part of our ongoing effort to reduce waste. OZZI is changing the world from disposable to reusable; one meal at a time. Replacing single-use compostable to-go boxes with reusable containers eliminates the resource and energy costs associated with processing thousands of single-use containers annually and avoids the additional concern of improper disposal contributing to landfill waste.
Reusable O2Go containers are available for a one-time purchase of $5 at the Trojan Dining Hall. You can fill your container with food and take your meal to go. Once you are done with the meal, the used O2Go container is returned to the OZZI machine located in the front entryway of the dining hall. The container is dropped into a collection cart and you be issued a carabiner that can be used later to receive a new container.
